Reclining Office Chair
A reclining chair is not what you typically think of when
considering different types of office chairs. However, they have grown in popularity as studies have shown
that temporarily changing your seating position relieves stress on your lower back, legs and neck. This is a
type of hybrid chair that needs to function as a desk chair that you can sit upright in as well as a sort of
zero gravity chair that can recline, raising your feet off the floor. These chairs do not function well as
computer station or task chairs because they tend to be quite heavy. Even thought they are on casters, it can
take a lot to move the chair to different positions within a work center.
High powered executives with high stress jobs have become increasingly aware of the value of down
time or decompression during the work day. They place great value on closing their door and reclining in their
chair as a way to refresh themselves during a hectic day. It is now more common to see recliners as part of
executive office furniture packages. Well made reclining chairs can cost well over $1000. This high cost is well
worth it if the amount of time spent in the office chair is considered.

Freedom Chair by Humanscale
The Freedom Chair is the perfect balance of utility and comfort. It is a
highly adjustable ergonomic traditional office chair as well as a comfortable reclining chair. It features
weight-sensitive reclining function which conforms to natural movement and a dynamically positioned headrest
that all but eliminates stress on the vertebrae of the neck. The counter balance recline mechanism eliminates
the need to adjust controls to achieve the desired positioning. One of the great unique features of this chair
are the arm rests which adjust in tandem, meaning that you will never need to spend time adjusting each arm rest
individually to ensure that they are the same height. Arm rests can also be adjusted low enough to be able to
work at a desk and are filled with a patented substance known as Technogel. The cushions are molded to match
natural body contours to relieve common pressure points.

stress and increase productivity. The OFM Power Rest frame is constructed on a durable steel frame with a
two hundred fifty pound capacity. It is height adjustable and has up to five reclining positions. The padded
foot rest can be pulled out from under the chair and tucked away when not in use.
Josh Executive Office Recliner
Another high end executive leather office chair by Lafer, the Josh Executive Office Recliner is the next best
thing to sleeping in a bed since the backrest can recline up to 170%. There is a retractable foot rest that when
extended supports the legs and eliminates stress on the lower back. There is a head rest
adjustment to use when the chair is at different levels of recline. The arm rests are hinged to both the seat
and the backrest so that they raise and lower themselves in conjunction with the angle of the chair.
